Journaling Practices for Navigating Grief & Trauma

I designed this workshop for those of us who have ever felt our creative practices interrupted or otherwise impacted by our own grief and trauma. Additionally, this workshop is for those of us who’d like to explore a creative journaling practice as an aid in being with the grief and trauma in our lives. How can our journals hold us, offer containment? How can our creative practices walk alongside us as we wade through experiences with loss and pain? Through my own experience, and from feedback I’ve gathered over the years through Journal As Altar and Collective Action Consulting, I put together content that speaks to the themes I have heard from many people. This is an offering right from my heart, and my hope is that it offers you solace, inspiration, and a sense of belonging. You are not alone in all that you hold.

Your journal can become an altar.

In this foundational virtual workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Ground yourself in journaling as a sacred self-care practice

  • Set up your journal as an altar and create pages that become prayers

  • Release perfectionism and supremacy thinking that can inhibit creativity and healing

  • Utilize new art journal techniques

  • Explore art mediums

  • Rely on ritual and routine to guide you

  • Write/create for yourself and for the world you wish to see

  • Zoom link will be sent to registrants the day before the event

  • Replay of the workshop, available through 8/08/21

  • Bonus #1: All participants who register and provide mailing address will receive a mini Journal As Altar kit in the mail,
    containing new, custom JAA stickers, ephemera, labels, journal prompts, etc.
